Low level laser therapy provides significant pain relief for plantar fasciitis by 8 weeks
J Foot Ankle Surg. 2015 Sep-Oct;54(5):768-7269 patients with unilateral plantar fasciitis were randomized to receive either low level laser therapy (LLLT) or placebo treatment. The purpose of the study was to determine if LLLT resulted in improved patient pain management compared to placebo up to 8 weeks after treatment. The primary outcome of interest was VAS heel pain score, and secondary outcomes included plantar fascia thickness, quality of life (FFI score), and patient satisfaction. Results demonstrated a significantly greater reduction in pain, reduction in plantar fascial thickness and rate of high patient satisfaction compared to the placebo group. No significant difference in patient-reported quality of life was observed between groups, and no complications occurred in either group.
