Superior implant alignment with computer-assisted alignment in total knee replacement

74 patients undergoing mini-invasive total knee replacement (TKR) were randomized to undergo one of two surgical procedures. The first group underwent surgery using a traditional alignment guide (MIS group) while the second group underwent surgery using a computer-assisted alignment system (MICA group). The primary outcomes were angles and implant orientation measured at 8 months post operatively. The results indicated superior alignment and radiological parameters of femoral component slopes and frontal tibial component angle in the MICA group.
