66 patients experiencing shoulder pain secondary to frozen shoulder were randomized to undergo either high-intensity laser therapy (HILT) or a placebo treatment. The purpose of the study was to determine if HILT had any positive implications on pain, range of motion, and patient satisfaction in these patients. The study found an initial reduction in pain in individuals undergoing HILT treatment, although pain levels were comparable between groups by the end of the 12 week study period. Shoulder range of motion was comparable between groups, as was patient satisfaction.
