203 patients with hip osteoarthritis were randomized to general practitioner care with or without exercise therapy. The purpose of this study was to determine the effects of exercise therapy on hip pain and function over a 12-month period in patients with hip osteoarthritis. The results of this study indicated no significant differences in hip pain or function scores between the patients that did and did not receive exercise therapy at 12 months. However, short-term benefits in pain and function were observed at 3 months.
