91 patients scheduled for total knee arthroplasty (TKA) were randomized to undergo standard soft tissue repair with either the knee positioned at 90 degrees flexion or full extension. The purpose of this study was to determine if the positioning of the knee during soft tissue repair had a significant influence on patient postoperative knee range of motion (ROM) and Knee Society Score (KSS) after a 12 month follow-up period. The results of this study demonstrated that ROM and KSS measurements were comparable between study groups at 1 year, indicating that knee positioning did not have a significant effect on postoperative function.
