71 volunteers with hip or knee osteoarthritis (OA) were randomized to receive either 6 weeks of aquatic physiotherapy or no aquatic physiotherapy. Outcomes of pain, quality of life, physical function, muscle strength and physical activity levels were measured. Results showed that the 6-week aquatic physiotherapy intervention produced a decrease in pain as well as improved patient-oriented outcomes.
