AAOS 2016: No benefit of inpatient rehab added to home-based rehab after TKA
165 patients who underwent total knee arthroplasty and discharged from acute care were randomized to two different postoperative rehabilitation protocols. One group received 10 days of inpatient rehabilitation followed by 6 weeks of a hybrid home-based rehabilitation protocol, while the other group received the hybrid home-based rehabilitation program alone. The purpose of this study was to compare functional outcome between groups over 26 week follow-up. The results demonstrated no significant differences between groups in any assessed outcome.
