Thrust mobilization/manipulation of thoracic spine reduces short-term neck pain

60 subjects with a primary complaint of mechanical neck pain were randomized to receive one of two types of physical therapy treatments to examine outcomes of pain and disability. One group received a thoracic spine thrust-manipulation and the second group received a non-thrust manipulation/mobilization. Results indicated that the subjects receiving the thoracic thrust manipulation demonstrated significantly improved pain and disability scores at 48 hours.
