AAOS 2016: 5 year comparison of single and double bundle ACL reconstruction

103 patients undergoing anterior cruciate ligament reconstruction with hamstring tendon autografts were randomized to receive either single- or double-bundle anatomic reconstruction. The purpose of this study was to compare these methods at 5 years, in terms of clinical and radiographic outcomes. The results displayed no significant differences between treatment groups at 5 years in terms of functional tests, range of motion, pain, osteoarthritis, or knee laxity.
