AAOS 2016: Intraarticular & intravenous tranexamic acid similar for blood loss in THA

120 patients undergoing total hip arthroplasty (THA) were randomized to receive either 3g intra-articular tranexamic acid or 1.5g intravenous tranexamic acid. The purpose of this study was to compare these methods of administration in terms of their effects on postoperative blood loss, length of hospital stay, and transfusion rate in THA patients. There were no significant differences between groups in all aforementioned outcomes.
