OARSI 2016: Home-based exercise program associated with decreased risk of falls in knee OA
41 elderly patients originally randomized to knee OA treatment of either an individualized Otago exercise program or standard treatment were included in this subgroup analysis. The purpose of this analysis was to determine whether exercise was associated with significantly improved risk of fall, postural balance and fear of falling outcomes after 6 months. Results indicated that patients allocated to the exercise group had significantly improved posture scores, KOOS scores and falls efficacy scale scores.
