Alexander technique vs. local heat or guided imagery for chronic non-specific neck pain

72 patient with non-specific neck pain were randomized to one of three study interventions: (1) Alexander Technique, (2) local heat application, or (3) guided imagery. The purpose of this study was to compare efficacy, patient satisfaction, and safety of the Alexander technique with the other two therapies after 5 weeks of allocated therapy. Results demonstrated that although health-related-quality of life and satisfaction scores were significantly higher in the Alexander Technique group, the majority of all other outcomes demonstrated comparable measurements between all groups.
