126 patients with idiopathic adhesive capsultitis were randomized to intra-articular glenohumeral corticosteroid injection, subacromial corticosteroid injection, or a combination of both intra-articular and subacromial corticosteroid injection. The purpose of this study was to determine if a combined injection strategy offered better patient-reported clinical outcomes when compared to intra-articular injection alone or subacromial injection alone. American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeon (ASES) score, visual analog scale (VAS) pain scores, and patient subjection evaluation of shoulder outcome all demonstrated better outcome in the combined group and intra-articular alone group compared to the subacromial alone group.
