Ann Rheum Dis. 2012 Oct;71(10):1658-65.

80 patients with medial tibiofemoral OA were include to receive either active multimodal realignment treatment (with knee bracing, motion control footwear, and foot orthoses) and control bracing to compare improvement in knee function and pain after a 30-week crossover study period (12 weeks of first allocated treatment, 6 weeks washout period, 12 weeks of second treatment). Results demonstrated that patients experienced significant reductions in pain scores when wearing the active bracing treatment when compared to control bracing. Improvement in knee function was observed to be comparable between groups.
