Oral NSAIDs versus opioids for pain management of patients with knee OA
Osteoarthritis Cartilage. 2016 Jun;24(6):962-7217 randomized controlled trials were included in this systematic analytic review and meta-analysis to determine the comparative efficacy of oral non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) and opioids in the management of pain for patients with knee osteoarthritis (OA). Interventions included NSAIDs only (n=11 studies), less potent opioids (n=3 studies), both NSAIDs and less potent opioids (n=1 study), and potent opioids (n=2 studies). Findings indicated similar pain outcomes between the use of NSAIDs and opioids for patients with knee OA.
