100 knees in 97 patients scheduled for total knee arthroplasty were randomized to undergo the procedure using either a minimally invasive midvastus approach or conventional approach. The purpose of this study was to determine if the mini-midvastus approach offered significant benefit in knee range of motion, and patient-reported pain and functional outcomes when compared to a conventional approach through mid-term follow-up. Despite significantly greater ROM at 3 days postoperatively in the mini-midvastus group, no significant differences in patient-reported outcome measures were observed between groups.
