OSTEOARTHRITIS
Effectiveness of of exercise therapy + patient education for long-term hip OA outcomes
Phys Ther. 2016 Jun;96(6):818-27

109 patients with hip osteoarthritis (OA) were randomized to receive either a combination therapy of physical exercise and patient education or a control group of patient education alone. The purpose of this study was to compare the long-term effects of these treatments on secondary outcome measures including the range of motion (ROM), muscle strength, predicted maximal oxygen consumption, walking distance, and pain during walking. Outcomes were assessed up to 29 months after enrollment. Findings indicated significantly less pain during walking in the combination therapy group compared to the control group over 29 months, but no significant differences were reported for all other reported outcomes.
