Feasibility of a trial assessing movement-pattern training in chronic hip joint pain
J Orthop Sports Phys Ther. 2016 Jun;46(6):452-61.35 patients with chronic hip joint pain (CHJP) were included in this randomized feasibility trial for the purpose of investigating the treatment adherence, patient retention, and clinical benefits of Movement-Pattern Training (MPT) when compared to control therapy (no treatment). Results determined that patient retention and session adherence were comparable between treatment groups after 6 weeks of treatment. Additionally, patients in the MPT group demonstrated significant improvements in the Hip Disability and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (HOOS) symptoms, activities of daily living, and sports subscales compared to the control group. All other subscales of the HOOS scale, and all functional/kinematic test revealed comparable results between groups.
