84 patients with knee osteoarthritis were randomized to intraarticular injection of either triamcinolone hexacetonide or placebo saline. The purpose of this study was to compare pain and functional outcomes between groups after 1- and 6-week follow-up. Results on pain scores demonstrate a significant reduction in pain after 1 and 6 weeks within both group, with significantly greater reduction in pain between baseline and 1 week documented in the triamcinolone hexacetonide group. Over 6 weeks, results for one-minute walk tests significantly improved within both groups, with no significant between-group differences reported.
