Arthritis Rheum. 2003 Feb;48(2):370-7

68 patients with knee osteoarthritis were randomized to be administered intra-articular injections of triamcinolone acetonide (IA corticosteroid) or saline (IA saline) every 3 months for 2 years. The purpose of this study was to compare patient-reported pain, stiffness, and function, patient's and physician global assessment of improvement, knee range of motion, and radiographic joint space narrowing between groups after 1 and 2 years. No significant between-group differences were observed for the change in any outcome measure after 1 or 2 years.
