Therapeutic ultrasound is a safe and effective treatment for knee osteoarthritis
Clin Rehabil. 2016 Oct;30(10):960-971. Epub 2015 Oct 8.Ten randomized controlled trials (645 patients) were included in this meta-analysis to determine the effect of therapeutic ultrasound in the management of knee osteoarthritis when compared to sham or no-intervention. The pooled results of this meta-analysis indicated that therapeutic ultrasound significantly reduced pain and improved function compared to sham treatment. Additionally, few adverse events associated with the use of therapeutic ultrasound occurred among the ten included trials
