
30 patients with ankle fractures undergoing open reduction and internal fixation were randomized to wound closure using either an Allgöwer-Donati technique or a vertical mattress suture technique. The purpose of this study was to compared wound perfusion between these two closure techniques. Wound perfusion was assessed using laser-assisted indocyanine green angiography (LA-ICGA). The results of this trial indicated that the Allgöwer-Donati group had superior incisional would perfusion compared to the vertical mattress group; however, there was no significant difference in the incidence of wound complications.
