Beneficial effects of virtual walking intervention added to standard PT for cLBP
Eur Spine J. 2017 Feb;26(2):538-545

46 patients with subacute or chronic nonspecific low back pain were randomized to a two-week physiotherapy program either with or without the addition of a virtual reality walking component. Participants were assessed after the completion of the two-week program for outcomes related to pain, disability, kinesiophobia, functional performance, and health-related quality of life. At the end of the intervention, the group which received the virtual reality walking component demonstrated significantly lower pain, significantly lower kinesiophobia, and significantly better results on the Timed Up-and-Go test and 6-Minute Walk Test when compared to the standard physiotherapy alone group.
