COA2017: Repair favored over subacromial decompression & nonoperative treatment of rotator cuff tear
Five randomized controlled trials were included in this meta-analysis comparing the results of operative repair to both conservative treatment and subacromial decompression in the treatment of degenerative rotator cuff tears. Pooled Constant-Murley scores demonstrated significantly greater functional outcome at 1-year follow-up with operative repair compared to either conservative management or subacromial decompression alone.
