AAOS 2016: Ketorolac and corticosteroid injection comparable for pain decrease in knee OA

35 patients with osteoarthritis of the knee were randomized to receive either ketorolac injection therapy or corticosteroid injection therapy. The purpose of this study was to determine if ultrasound-guided ketorolac injection demonstrated comparable improvement in knee pain and function after 24 weeks post-injection compared to corticosteroid. Results demonstrated that patients in both study groups had significantly improved pain and function scores from respective baseline measurements, indicating that ketorolac injection therapy may be a viable cost-efficient alternative injection therapy for knee OA.
