28 patients who had suffered a distal radial fracture (DRFs) and were undergoing occupational therapy were randomized to either perform a 6-minute repetitive wrist extension exercise protocol, or to a rest period of the same length. The purpose of this study was to assess the immediate effect of the intervention protocol on grip strength and visual analogue scale (VAS) pain scores. Results demonstrated significant within-group changes for grip strength and VAS pain in those who performed the wrist extension exercise, although changes demonstrated in the control (rest) group were not statistically significant.
