Autologous conditioned plasma more effective than hyaluronic acid in treating gonarthrosis
Am J Sports Med. 2012 Dec;40(12):2822-7. doi: 10.1177/0363546512461902. Epub 2012 Oct 25120 patients were randomized to compare the clinical response of two different treatments for gonarthrosis. Patients received either platelet-rich plasma (PRP) - more specifically - autologous conditioned plasma (ACP), or hyaluronic acid (HA). 24 weeks after the first injection patients who received ACP displayed significantly better clinical outcomes (assessed through the WOMAC osteoarthritis index questionnaire) than those receiving hyaluronic acid.
