One hundred and seventy eight patients with femoral neck fractures were randomized to receive either fascia iliaca compartment block or 3-in-1 femoral nerve block to induce analgesia. The purpose of the study was to compare these methods in the emergency department setting in terms of their efficacy in reducing pain in adults presenting with femoral neck fracture. The results demonstrated that pain at 30 and 60 minutes was not significantly different between the two groups. In addition, the length of hospital stay was greater in the FIB group at a nonsignificant level, and analgesic consumption up to 24 hours postadmission was comparable between groups.
