ISAKOS2017: No difference in 2-yr gait analysis between kinematic vs. mechanical alignment in TKA

27 patients scheduled for total knee arthroplasty were randomized to kinematic alignment with patient specific instrumentation, or to mechanical alignment with computer navigation. Patients were assessed for kinematic and kinetic parameters during gait analysis at 2 years postoperatively, including frontal and sagittal knee angle at foot strike and during initial loading, and frontal and sagittal peak moment and peak power of the knee during initial loading. Results demonstrated no significant differences in any of the assessed parameters.
