111 individuals with tight hamstrings were randomized to one of three treatment protocols: a stretching program that focused the hip joint, a stretching program that focused on the knee joint, or to a control group that did not participate in stretching. This study was conducted in order to determine whether the location at which the stretches were performed influenced improvement in range of motion after the 8-week program. Findings indicated that the location of stretches had little effect on the range of motion outcomes, which included passive knee extension angle, passive straight leg raise angle, Slump test knee extension, and trunk flexion.
