48 healthy patients were randomized to receive Maitland Grade 3 extensive talocrural joint mobilization or Maitland Grade 1 talocrural joint mobilization for the improvement of ankle dorsiflexor muscle strength. The outcome of interest was ankle dorsiflexor muscle strength, measured at baseline, immediately following treatment and 30 minutes after treatment. Results revealed no significant differences in ankle dorsiflexor muscle strength between the two groups at all timepoints. Whilst the Grade 3 mobilization group displayed significant improvements from baseline immediately after and 30 minutes after treatment, the Grade 1 mobilization group did not display any significant improvements from baseline.
