One hundred and eight female patients suffering from chronic, non-specific neck pain were randomly assigned to neck coordination exercises, strength training for the neck and shoulders or massage therapy. The purpose of this trial was to evaluate the sensorimotor effects of neck coordination exercises using a newly developed training device. The primary outcomes of interest were postural sway and goal-directed arm movements. The data demonstrated that neck coordination exercises did not seem to have any significant advantages over strength training and massage therapy at 6 months.
