Osteoarthritis Cartilage. 2018 Mar;26(3):383-396

350 patients with knee osteoarthritis were randomized to either an internet-based home exercise training group (IBET), a formal physical therapy intervention (PT), or a wait-list control group (WL). Patients were assessed for patient-reported function, pain, and stiffness on the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities Osteoarthritis Index (WOMAC) after 4 and 12 months. Results demonstrated no significant differences in the reduction in WOMAC score between the IBET group and PT group after 4 and 12 months. There were also no statistically significant differences in the reduction in WOMAC score between the intervention groups and the WL control group.
