60 patients suffering from chronic low back pain, associated with lumbar disk herniation, were recruited to a randomized double blind trial to determine if oxygen-ozone injection was an efficacious treatment for LBP. The patients were randomized to receive either an oxygen-ozone intramuscular-para-vertebral injection or a placebo injection. The results from this trial indicated that oxygen-ozone injections provided significant reductions in VAS-pain measures at 6 months post intervention.
