Arthroscopy. 2017 Jan;33(1):125-132

46 patients scheduled for arthroscopic treatment of femoroacetabular impingement and a labral tear were randomized to postoperative analgesia with either a fascia iliaca compartment block (FICB) or local anesthetic infiltration (LAI) into the arthroscopic portals. Patients were assessed for pain scores, opioid consumption, and the incidence of postoperative nausea and vomiting over the first 24 hours after surgery. Results demonstrated significantly higher pain scores and opioid consumption within the first hour after surgery in the FICB group compared to the LAI group. The trial was terminated early due to this finding.
