Pulsed electromagnetic field with exercise beneficial in patellofemoral pain syndrome

31 patients with patellofemoral pain syndrome were randomized to receive treatment with either exercise alone, or in combination with pulsed electromagnetic fields. The purpose of this study was to determine if pulsed electromagnetic field treatment could deliver an additive benefit to exercise therapy in patients with this condition at 12 months. The findings of this report indicated that improvements in the Victorian Institute of Sport Assessment score, Feller's Patella Score, and VAS pain were all significantly in favour of the combined therapy group.
