Rate and reoperation of adjacent segment degeneration lower with CDA versus ACDF in spine surgery
World Neurosurg. 2018 May;113:225-231Twenty-one studies comparing rates of adjacent segment degeneration after surgical treatment for degenerative cervical spine pathology between cervical disc arthroplasty (CDA) and anterior cervical discectomy and fusion (ACDF) were included in this meta-analysis. Pooled rate of adjacent segment degeneration was significantly lower among CDA groups compared to ACDF groups. Additionally, reoperation rate for adjacent segment degeneration was significantly lower among CDA groups compared to ACDF groups.
