SICOT2018: Redisplacement rate lower with below- vs. above-elbow cast in paediatric forearm fracture
264 paediatric patients with a displaced distal forearm fracture - including raidus only, ulna only, and both radius-ulna fractures - were randomized to plaster of Paris casting with either an above-elbow cast or below-elbow cast. Patients were assessed for rate of redisplacement on radiograph after 1 week. Results demonstrated a significantly lower rate of redisplacement in the below-elbow cast group compared to the above-elbow cast group.
