100 patients scheduled for total knee arthroplasty were randomized to either a posterior cruciate-retaining implant or a posterior-cruciate substituting implant. Patients were assessed for function, quality of life, and the incidence of reoperation over a 10-year follow-up. No significant differences between groups were observed in any outcome measure.
