20 studies (1 level I; 7 level II; 11 level III; and 1 level IV) comparing health-related quality of life (HRQOL) from baseline to mid-term (between 3.6 to 7 years postoperatively) in patients who underwent total hip arthroplasty (THA) were included in this review. The purpose of this systematic review and meta-analysis was to determine whether THA has an effect on mid-term HRQOL. Results indicated that THA significantly improved both disease-specific and generic HRQOL in the mid-term.
