Topical flaxseed oil versus placebo for treatment of knee osteoarthritis
Complement Ther Clin Pract. 2018 May;31:302-30782 patients with symptomatic knee osteoarthritis were randomized to either treatment with a topical flaxseed oil preparation or to placebo. Patients were to apply allocated treatment three times daily for 6 weeks. The outcome measure was the Knee Injury and Osteoarthritis Outcome Score (KOOS). Improvement in each KOOS scale from baseline to 6 weeks was significantly greater in the topical flaxseed group compared to the placebo group.
