Single-row repair vs double-row repair of full-thickness rotator cuff tears
Arthroscopy. 2011 Jul;27(7):978-85. doi: 10.1016/j.arthro.2011.01.0145 (2 cohorts, 3 RCTs) quasi-randomized and randomized controlled trials that compared single-row rotator cuff repair with the results of double row rotator cuff repair were selected in the meta-analysis to compare both techniques in function and anatomical superiority. Double-row repair improved tendon healing, provided greater external rotation, and decreased the recurrence rate of tears, but had increased operative time. No statistical differences were found in shoulder function in Constant score, ASES score, UCLA score, WORC index, DASH score, muscle strength, forward flexion, internal rotation, patient satisfaction, return to work, and adverse events.
