Ultrasound-guided injections for facet joint-related neck pain are safe and accurate

40 patients were randomized to assess the safety and efficacy of ultrasound-guided (US) facet joint injections in the cervical spine. Patients received either US-guided facet joint injections or computer tomography (CT)-guided instillations and were assessed after 4 weeks. Results indicated that the US-guided procedure led to same therapeutic effects as CT-guided techniques; moreover, US-guided injections displayed a greater reduction in procedure duration and exposure to radiation.
