Collagen hydrolysate supplements may improve articular pain

200 patients of at least 50 years old, with joint pain assessed as >30 mm on a visual analogue scale (VAS), were randomized to study the efficacy of collagen hydrolysate (1200 mg/day) food supplement against a placebo group. Over the duration of 6 months, collagen hydrolysate group increased the number of clinical responders (i.e. improvement of at least 20% on the VAS) compared to placebo, without adverse events.
