128 patients with mild to moderate knee osteoarthritis were randomized to receive 10 session of cryotherapy over 5 weeks with either manual therapy or kinesiotherapy. The primary outcome of interest was pain on a Visual Analog Scale (VAS). Secondary outcomes of interest included the Western Ontario and McMaster Universities (WOMAC) Osteoarthritis Index, range of motion in flexion and extension, and the 6 minute walk test. Outcomes were assessed 7 days after the completion of treatment. Results revealed all outcomes to be significantly in favour of the manual therapy plus cryotherapy group compared to the kinesiotherapy plus cryotherapy group.
