Improvement in the incidence of groin problems with adductor strength programme in male footballers
Br J Sports Med. 2019 Feb;53(3):150-157.

652 male footballers from 2nd or 3rd tier Norwegian teams were randomized to receive or not receive the Copenhagen adductor strengthening program in addition to regular pre-season and regular season training. The primary outcome of interest was the prevalence of groin injury. The secondary outcome of interest was the prevalence of substantial groin injury. Intervention was performed during pre-season 2-3 times per week, and during the regular season once per week. Follow up was performed weekly for the duration of the 28 week season. The results from this study revealed significantly lower odds of groin injury in the adductor strengthening group compared to the control group. There was, however, no significant difference in the odds of a substantial groin injury between the two groups.
