100 patients undergoing routine total knee arthroplasty were randomized to receive a parecoxib sodium analgesic regimen or placebo post-surgery, with the primary purpose of evaluating total morphine consumption during the first 24 hours postoperatively. Upon analysis, parecoxib sodium significantly reduced morphine consumption, pain at rest and during movement, and concentration of IL-6 and PGE-2 inflammatory factors, while increasing passive range of motion when compared to placebo during the first three postoperative days.
