Patellofemoral pain: High-dose high-repetition vs low dose, low repetition exercise

42 patients with patellofemoral pain syndrome (PFPS) were randomized to receive high-dose, high-repetition exercise therapy or low-dose, low-repetition exercise therapy, to compare the impact of the exercise regimens on pain and function. Following 12 weeks, patients who received high-dose, high-repetition exercise therapy had significantly better VAS pain scores, step-down test scores, and Functional Index Questionnaire scores compared to the low-dose, low-repetition exercise therapy group.
